National Public Lands Day Trail Work and Cleanup on the South Branch Trail

  • Clark's Pond Cinemagic Parking Lot 333 Clark's Pond Parkway South Portland, ME, 04106 United States (map)

As part of a celebration of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28, the South Portland Land Trust is looking for volunteers to assist with light trail work and a cleanup of the South Branch Trail from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The approximately one-half mile South Branch Trail is located in the wooded area along the south branch of Long Creek, between the Clark’s Pond Cinemagic Theater and the Olive Garden in the Maine Mall area.

Volunteers should park in the rear of the Clark’s Pond theater. While the trail work is scheduled to last until noon, volunteers are welcome to work as long as they are available. Participants should wear long pants and long-sleeve shirts and bring work gloves (if available) and water.

The SPLT has scheduled the workday in preparation for next month’s expansion of the South Branch Trail. The October trail expansion, a project of the SPLT’s West End Trails committee, will increase the length of the South Branch Trail to a one-mile loop trail.

Please contact SPLT Board member Tom Blake at tomblake207@gmail.com or (207) 415-3944 for more information.

RSVPs on the SPLT Facebook page are encouraged, but not required.
