Willard Beach

Managed by the City of South Portland

Willard Beach is a 4 acre beach that runs between Fisherman’s Point and the campus of Southern Maine Community College. A stroll on the beach offers marvelous views of Casco Bay and nearby islands. The thoroughfare immediately in front of the beach is the most popular route for boats entering and leaving Portland Harbor. You are apt to see a large variety of commercial and recreational boats coming and going. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy city provided amenities including a beach house with restrooms, a snack bar and showers. A nearby lot off of Willow Street offers parking.

Walkers can combine their stroll on the beach with a hike along the adjacent Spring Point Shoreway, which provides opportunities to explore Fort Preble and Spring Point Light.

If you are arriving by car, the best place to park is in the lot located on Willow Street. If that lot is full, (a common occurrence in summer months), you may want to try to find a spot on the SMCC campus (take Fort Road all the way to the end).
