The 2012 SPLT Plant & Bake Sale
Saturday, May 19th

The South Portland Land Trust (SPLT) will hold its annual Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the American Legion Hall at 413 Broadway in South Portland. The SPLT plant sale is a favorite of the local gardening community with its amazing variety of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, wildflowers and groundcovers available for sale, as well as baked goods and coffee.

This year, SPLT is pleased to be sharing profits from the sale with its sponsored organization, Community Garden Collective (www.communitygardencollective.org), which plans to open a community garden at the former Hamlin School playing fields this spring.

The sale will open to SPLT members at 8 a.m. and to the general public at 9 a.m., and doors will close promptly at 1 p.m. Remember you can join SPLT the day of the sale to take advantage of the early sale hours!

As always, the SPLT will be seeking donations of plants from individuals and/or businesses – please contact Helen Slocum at hfslocum@maine.rr.com for information concerning plant donations.

Bakers needed for the Bake Sale!
Especially Pie Bakers!

We anticipate an especially yummy bake sale this year, because in addition to all the usual delectable treats, we would like to focus on selling fresh baked pies as they are very popular. So if you make a wonderful pie of any kind, please bring one in and support the SPLT and community gardening! Contact David Jacobs or email him at davidjacobs@mindspring.com to coordinate a baked goods donation.
